3 Ways Why Reformation and Revolve Are So Different, And Yet So Alike, On Social Media

Hi again! I’m back with another very exciting post for you. Since most of you showed so much love on my previous post regarding Reformation’s social media audit, I have decided to surprise you with something even more interesting!

As my third blog post assignment for my social media Communication class, I am instructed to compare Reformation’s Facebook with that of a competitor’s. And what brand other than Revolve could fit this criteria better?

Just like Reformation, Revolve is also famous for their sustainable- and high-quality  products. They primarily target young women looking into high-end fashionable clothing and accessories. We all love Revolve as much as we love Reformation, don’t we? So keep reading to find out if Revolve is making the same mistakes as Reformation on Facebook.

In terms of Consistency

I was honestly amazed to find out that Revolve posts ten to twenty posts a day on Instagram. However, on Facebook, Revolve posts three times a week on average. In contrast, Reformation posts about seven times a week on average on Facebook and they are as active on Facebook as they are on instagram. According to Meltwater, an active social media brand must post at least once a day on Facebook. Clearly, Revolve fails to follow this guideline for posting consistently on Facebook.

In terms of Engagement

I was surprised to find many unanswered comments and queries on Revolve’s posts on Facebook. Since Revolve has such a huge fan following worldwide, I expected them to be more interactive with their customers. In terms of engagement, Reformation and Revolve, both fail to follow the best practices as stated in the Bonfire article, “The Ultimate Social Media Best Practices 2019.” As a huge fan for both these brands, I would recommend them to be more engaging with the customers and having meaningful conversations in the comments section.

In terms of Posting pattern

Most of the posts made by Revolve followed the Sprout Social article, ‘Best times to post on social media for 2019.’ On weekdays, they normally post between 9 am and 3 pm, which is the best time to post on Facebook. In addition, they do not post on Sundays at all, and Sundays are the worst days to post on Facebook. In comparison, Reformation posts at the most bizarre times. For example, they once made a post at 12:30 am on a Thursday.

What do you think?

I follow and adore both these brands equally, and I wish their PR teams were doing a better job on Facebook. I still think Reformation’s team is doing a little better than Revolve on Facebook, but they need to improve as well. What do you think? What brand is your favorite? Let me know what you want me to write about next, in the comments section below.
